Matching process

We understand and respect that bringing an outsider into one’s home is a deeply personal matter. Home Care Match LLC works closely with our clients to find the right match that works for both you and the caregiver. Making the right match ensures a long-term, satisfactory relationship that works for all.

With standard home care agencies and the labor shortage, caregiver assignments last for less than twelve months. So strong is the bond between our clients and caregivers, our matches typically last for years. (We have one match that is in its eleventh year and counting!)

STEP ONE

The first step is a detailed discussion to understand your loved one’s medical and personal needs, family situation, and lifestyle. We recognize that needs differ according to each individual situation.

STEP TWO

The appropriate caregivers, selected from a network gradually developed over thirty years, are assigned to interview with the family. The caregivers who are invited to become part of our employment agency have gone through a formal vetting process. We require a résumé, conduct an extensive two-tier in-person interview, verify written professional references, and perform a DMV, immigrant status check, and criminal background check. Only candidates who have proven themselves over time are allowed to interview for long-term placements.

STEP THREE

Once we find the perfect match, we will help you through the payroll process, from furnishing references to reputable payroll services to providing guidance on how to comply with labor laws. Registries and home care agencies may say home care workers can be subcontractors—receive 1099s with no taxes deducted—but the IRS does not agree. Do you remember “Nannygate”?
