Most of our clients are looking for 24/7 care. We certainly support flexible scheduling for shorter shifts. But long-term, all-day and all-night care is the most popular and yet most difficult to find. We are the experts!
Aging in place is a top priority for nearly all older adults. And consistency in caregivers is paramount to reducing confusion and ensuring that medication and other treatments are reliably administered. It also reduces exposure to respiratory infections for those who are medically frail or immunocompromised.
For clients who need 24/7 care, we have found that hiring two “sleep-in” caregivers is the most successful approach. One sleeps over three nights a week, the other sleeps over four nights a week. Each caregiver comes in refreshed. With such regularity, they develop a rapport with the client—and with each other—so they can effectively maintain continuity. Each caregiver brings their unique strengths. And they can spell each other if one gets sick.
Only our most experienced caregivers engage in a 24/7 care arrangement. They have proven themselves to be capable, responsive, and engaging care providers. They are able to intuitively get in sync with the client and focus on a holistic approach to in-home support: Body, mind, and spirit. They also have a history of working collaboratively with other caregiving partners.
Whether your loved one is dealing with dementia (for example, Alzheimer’s disease) or has a medically complex situation such as Parkinson’s or a stroke, we can find two caregivers who are well matched to your situation so you are covered 24/7.
A note about live-in care. We do not support live-in arrangements with a single caregiver who resides full time at the client’s home. The lack of breaks leads to potentially unprofessional boundaries and decreased quality of care. If this is something you require, we are happy to give you a referral to another agency that offers this service.
